Halloween in Sandwich Village…Raising Children in Sandwich…

Posted to Catherine Thomas

One of the best things about living in Sandwich village is trick-or-treating on Halloween. The main street of Sandwich is packed with families parading down the streets in costumes and stopping at all the homes for tricks or treats. Most of the homes in the village are decorated for the season and some even have a mini-haunted house.

We always stop by the library on Halloween to see the scarecrows. There is a scarecrow contest every year and children decorate scarecrows which are displayed in front of the library on Main Street. It's always a lot of fun to see such creativity; look at this photo.

Raising children in Sandwich is great because of all the town activities available for kids and families. The town also has a very active recreation center that coordinates sports for all the children in Sandwich. My son has been involved in the town’s soccer, Little League and even lacrosse teams. Children from all three elementary schools participate in the sports programs so by the time they’re in high school they all know each other -- which makes the transition to high school so much easier.
